Through May: Zach leads with 902 Cup Points

Cleveland Cup points have been updated to reflect May scores.

We have a new leader, and it’s Zach P! He has 902 Cup points, making him the solo #1 by 62 points.

After having gotten fitted into a new Callaway Smoke driver, Zach is striking the ball as well as anyone in the league. He posted 88s at Bunker and Tanglewood in April, finishing second in both of those Additional events. He needed one stroke fewer to get home at Shawnee in April, but finished third. Then in May with a league handicap of 20.2, Zach picked up his first win of the season. In the Tour event at Springvale, he hit 6 GIRs and needed just 29 putts to finish with a 78 (net 59)!Â

Zach’s lead in the league standings, which determine playoff seedings, would be even more commanding if he had fared as well in the season’s first Major at Jack Nichlaus’s Valley of the Eagles; however, Zach hit just 3 GIRs and carded 39 putts for a 96 (net 74) at the Bear’s track. The May scores dropped Zach’s league handicap dropped to 19.6, but he added a Callaway Smoke 3 Wood to his bag and is expected to remain near the top of the leaderboard when June’s scores are finalized.

April’s co-leaders Anthony L and Lou Z took different paths in May. Lou competed in two more events to rack up 748 Cup points while Anthony L only carded one additional event and fell to 7th with 485 points.

With April and May in the books, 29 players have carded a total of 79 rounds for 9,391 total Cup Points. The average player has 324 Cup Points.
