Philippe “Augy” Viray founded the Cleveland Cup in 2022. The men’s league brought together golfing friends and welcomed the golfing friends of his golfing friends — including us — to compete for The Cleveland Cup. When an opportunity lured Augy out of Ohio in 2022, we asked, “What about the league?”
Our 2023 regular season included 23 courses with 38 players carding 319 player-rounds. The league offered online scoring, money games and color commentary. Although the 2023 playoffs were anticlimactic, the season ended with the first annual Viray Cup where 15 players competed in a 36-hole team event ending with the Commish’s Red Team defeating the CDAO’s Blue Team to win the 2023 Viray Cup.
Play at least four events this season to qualify for the 2024 Viray Cup where last year’s teams will run it back with help from the 2024 draft class.
