Hey Fellers!
As promised another wonderful re-cap written by our very own league member Vince G! Not all business either….. we had quiet the occurence on Friday during our round. Some of the folks who took part in the FL golf trip of 2022, this story will resonate with you and bring out some good memories!
Additionally, please make sure you are checking these emails regularly, I had a couple people reach out about the $25 that was sent in monthy, thinking they were covered for the whole month…. it is now a weekly game of money!!!!!

With the first major now complete and 20 percent of the regular season somehow already now in the rearview (!), the Cleveland Cup is cooking with major shakeups across the Fedex Cup Points leaderboard.
But before we revisit the weekend that was: In an effort to further avoid real work and real-life responsibilities, and to further build this little community and introduce members to one another, the Cleveland Cup will gather next Thursday, May 25, on the patio of the Treehouse in Tremont from 5;30 to 7:30 p.m. for drinks and shit talk. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. After all, no one else in your life wants to hear about how you played.
As for how things went on the most maddeningly routed course in Northeast Ohio…
It was a high handicapper slugfest at the top of the results this week with a three-way tie for victory.
Colin M.’s 94, Cory K.’s 90 and Zach P.’s 96 all became net 66s.
Coming in second and making his first appearance in a top 5 was Commissioner Dalton R. with a 102 (net 69).
Rounding out the top finishers were Eric S. with a 99 (net 70), an impressive feat considering it was his first ever time playing the course, and Mike V. with 92 (net 71).
This week also welcomed defending Cleveland Cup champion Dirk. back to competition, who shot a 94 but whose 12 handicap kept him out of the top ten. Regardless, Dirk earned his first Cup points of the season after giving everyone a four-week head start. We’ll see how that strategy plays out later this season.
For those in on the betting — Which wasn’t many! Get your money to Stetson by midnight tonight if you want in for Seneca! — the results are going to look a bit repetitive:

Highlight of the Week: (INSERT ATTACHED IMAGE)
Chief Data Officer Gabe B. found himself wayward off the tee on No. 17, slicing his shot into 18 rough/fairway. After whacking a rescue shot, he gathered himself, attempting to regain some composure as he drove back across to playing partner Dalton R. Gabe, who possibly shouldn’t have a driver’s licensed but at the very least should be riding shotgun on the golf course, failed to pay attention or notice that the left hand side of 17’s fairway bunkers feature raised banks that made them invisible from his perspective. He launched the cart into said bunker — “It felt like I was falling for five seconds,” he told your recapper — but miraculously escaped injury, a flipped cart, and the attention of Valley of the Eagles marshals. Gabe declined to comment when asked if this brush with danger influenced his 10 on No. 18.
(A note here that submissions are welcome for highlights of the week. Ideally they would involve golf swings and not golf carts, but we’re not picky.)
Player Profile:
Tyler D. once again walked away with the low gross round, shooting an 88. He hasn’t been outside of the top 10 in that category all year and had a top-three low gross in four of the events played. He also shot the only sub-90 round at the major.
“Eagles was a grind. Had several emotional breakdowns,” Tyler said, “but managed to put a few strings of pars together along with starting with a birdie on No. 1, which in sum saved a sub-90 gross score. The course played beautifully though. Definitely a greater Cleveland favorite and a great choice for a major.”
Tyler currently sits 5th in Cup points.
“Being top 10 for the fourth week is hopeful as far as improving into the season,” he said. “Hoping to lower that score one round at a time to stay competitive in net scoring. There is a lot of golf to play though and with time, the bad late-season habits tend to hook and slice their way into my round. Pun intended.”

Next Up
The Cup returns to the Metroparks this week with Seneca. The 18-hole routing for May is Furnace Run and Baldwin, which means the Cup will challenge the ~600-yard par 5 on the Furnace side.
A Note About Little Mountain and Future Play:
While Little Mountain isn’t until the weekend after, it’s worth remembering it has a large membership which gets choice tee times and an advanced booking window, which means slots for the public can be limited, especially on weekends.. The public can book times 8 days out, which means if you’re looking to play Friday, May 26, times open on Thursday, May 18. Times for Saturday, May 27 on Friday, May 19. Etc. No harm in making some speculative times and sharing on the tee sheet. Can always cancel.
